There are many ways to add content to your Blackboard Ultra course. Instructors can create new content, upload existing content, and add content from other courses as well as external sources.
Add Content Anywhere
To add content, navigate to the section where you want to place the content and select the plus (+) sign. Learning Modules and Folders may be expanded and content may be added within those containers as well.
Creating Content
Use the Create option to add various content types, including
- Learning Modules - use learning modules to group related content in a sequence. Students can progress through items in order, minimizing distractions and unnecessary clicks.
-
Folders - create up to two folder levels for clear organization. Students can find materials faster, and you can add descriptions to explain each folder’s contents.
NOTE: You can’t create a third folder level or upload a folder into a second-level folder.
- Documents - instructors can create enhanced documents out of a combination of visual or textual elements. A document can be as simple as a single line of text or a combination of elements.
- Links - add a URL to an outside website
- Tests
- Assignments
- Forms
- Discussions
- Journals
- AI Conversations
Copying Content
In Ultra, instructors can choose to copy an entire course or select specific items across multiple courses to copy into their ultra course. Check out our Copying Content in Blackboard Ultra Courses article for more information about this process.
Uploading Files
Files can be uploaded directly to your course. When uploading a file, instructors have the options to allow students to View Only, Download Only, or View and Download the files from the course. Supported files types include: .doc, .docx, .htm, .html, .mp3, .mpg, .pdf, .ppt, .pptx, .xls, .xlsx, .rtf, .txt, .zip, and most image formats.
Using Cloud Storage
Files may also be added from cloud storage platforms (Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, and Box). Files add from cloud storage are copies and if the original file is updated or changed, a new copy will need to be uploaded to replace the previous version.
Content Market
Learning materials from external providers (publishers such as Cengage, Pearson, McGraw-Hill, etc.) can be added to your course content via the Content Market. For a list of all the integrated tools in Blackboard Ultra, checkout our Integrated Tools List.
Controlling Student Access
Content is hidden from students, by default, until instructors choose to make it available. Each content item has a drop-down menu to toggle the visibility of that item. Release Conditions may be set for individual items which allow instructors to schedule the availability of that item based on date, time, or student performance.
