Instructors may add banner images inside their Ultra courses. These banner images also appear in the grid view of the Courses page on Blackboard Ultra Base Navigation. Course Images can improve the way your Ultra Course landing pages appear and provide a visual identity for your course for students who are visual learners.
There are 3 ways to access the course banner options panel for ultra courses:
- Inside your course, click Course Image under the Details & Actions menu.
- In the grid view on the Courses page of Ultra Base Navigation, hover over the image and click the three dots to access the menu. On the menu that appears, click Edit Image.
- On an existing banner image inside your course, click the pencil icon on the banner.
Adding Your Image
Choose a clear, captivating image that represents your course. (NOTE: The minimum size requirement for a banner image is 1200 x 240 pixels).
- On the Details and Actions menu, locate Course Image and click Edit display settings.
- Select the image icon from the course banner options panel and upload your image. JPEG and PNG file formats are supported. You may also opt to use a Stock image from Unsplash by toggling the Image Source drop-down menu.
- Once you select or upload your image, a preview of your image appears. Select Next to continue. If you wish to cancel the upload, click the trash icon.
- The image is uploaded to your course.
- By default, banner images are turned on for your course(s). If you wish to turn them off, toggle the Course Banner slider and they will be turned off.
- Course banner images are automatically marked as decorative, hiding them from students using assistive technologies. If you want all students to know the content of the image, deselect Mark the image as decorative. Marking the image as decorative means you need to enter a description of the image in the Alternative text field to ensure accessibility for all students.
