LockDown Browser is a specialized browser designed to secure the testing environment in Blackboard Learn. When students use LockDown Browser for taking Blackboard tests, they cannot print, copy, navigate to other websites, access other applications, or exit the test until it is submitted for grading. Additionally, tests intended for LockDown Browser cannot be accessed with regular browsers. While LockDown Browser operates similarly to a standard browser, some features have been removed or function differently.
To add LockDown Browser to an existing Blackboard exam:
- Navigate to where the exam is deployed in your ultra course, and click on the test name.
- On the Content and Settings screen of the exam, click the gear icon next to Test Settings.
- The Test Settings panel will open. Scroll down and click LockDown Browser Dashboard under Respondus in the Assessment Security section.
- On the Respondus LockDown Browser Dashboard, click the arrow to the left of the name of the exam you wish to require LockDown Browser for and select Settings.
- Under the LockDown Browser Settings, click the radio button next to Require Respondus LockDown Browser for this exam.
- Next, you may click the plus sign next to Advanced Settings to display additional settings for your exam. When you have completed this step to your liking, click Save + Close to save the changes.
