Create Alternative Formats (Students)

In Ultra courses: blue Alt Format icons appear next to the titles of content items on the Content Outline. For file attachments, select the attachment to open the document viewer. The Alt Format icon will display next to the file name.

In Original courses: blue Alt Format icons appear next to the titles of content items and file attachment names.

1. Navigate to a course in Blackboard (new tab) that you want to create Alt Formats for. You may need to refresh the page a few times and reopen the course for the Alt Format icons to appear.

2. Identify and select the blue Alt Formats icon next to a content item or file attachment name in your course.

3. Select an Alt Format type and wait for it to generate.

4. Once generated, view the format in your browser or download the generated file to your computer.

Viewing and downloading options depend on the format type. Some formats are view-only, others are download-only, and some allow both viewing and downloading.
