Training and Support Information

Troubleshooting Information

Alt Format icons not showing?

First, check that you’re logged into the extension. If your account is connected but the icons still aren’t showing, refresh the page a few times and wait up to a minute. If that doesn’t work, close and reopen the course.

Alt Formats look strange or sound incorrect?

Alt Formats are created using machine learning, so if the quality is low, the original document might have formatting issues that the tool can’t process correctly. Contact your instructor for an accessible version that works better with assistive technologies.

New formats not as useful as the old ones?

If the new formats aren’t as helpful, try using the Blackboard Ally File Transformer. You’ll find it on the Assist tab in Blackboard. This tool uses the old Alt Formats service to create formats from files you upload manually.

Trying to create Alt Formats on your phone?

To create Alt Formats on your mobile device, upload your files using either Panorama DocHub (Blackboard > Tools > YuJa Panorama > DocHub) or Blackboard’s Ally File Transformer (Blackboard > Assist > Ally File Transformer).
