The total points in your syllabus and the total points possible in the Grade Center Total Column should match. You can check this alignment using Manage Column Organization in the Grade Center.
- Navigate to your course in Blackboard.
- Have a copy of your course syllabus available. The syllabus will generally outline the points for all assessments including the total points possible. It's often easier to print out a copy of your syllabus if you suspect a discrepancy.
- In the Control Panel, below the Course Menu, click Grade Center.
- Click Full Grade Center.
- Above the Grade Center columns, click Manage.
- Select Column Organization.
- Locate the Total row on the list. Note: If you manually created a total column with a different name, locate that column instead.
- At the far right of the row, you will see Points Possible for the total grade in the course. Does this number match the points possible listed in the syllabus? If they match, you're all set! If not, continue on to step nine.
- If the points possible on your syllabus doesn't match the points possible in your total column, you can scroll down the Column Organization page to determine which assessment has the incorrect number of points possible assigned to it. While you can't change the points on the Column Organization page, you can navigate to the assessment in your course for any assessment a student completes in Blackboard, or navigate back to the Full Grade Center if you manually created a Grade Center column for an assessment. If students complete the content through a publisher, you will need to change the points possible on that website.
- Click Submit or Cancel to exit Manage Column Organization.
