Check Document Accessibility in Microsoft Word for Windows
Please note: these instructions are only applicable for docx files. If your file extension is .doc, see Converting a doc file to docx file. The doc file extension is an older file type that does not include the accessibility checker functionality.
- In a document you have created, click File.
- Click Check for Issues.
- Click Check Accessibility.
- The Accessibility Checker identifies issues in your Word document that make portions of your document inaccessible. The checker then
- Categorizes the severity of each accessibility issue from a Tip to a Warning to an Error.
- Explains why it is important to fix each issue.
- Provides information on how to fix each issue.
