After you have created your ProctorU account and installed the ProctorU browser extension(s), you are ready to add ProctorU to your test in Blackboard.
- Navigate to the location where the test is deployed in Blackboard.
- Click the downward pointing chevron next to the course name. Select Edit Test Options.
- Once you have accessed the Edit Test Options page, the ProctorU icon will appear on the page. Click the icon and then Get Started to begin the ProctorU setup.
- In the Select a proctoring service window, select Auto to begin setup for the automated proctoring service. Note - Live proctoring is not an option for COD at this time.
- Use the recommended security level for the base of the test settings.
- Now set the Exam security guidelines:
- Allow use of browser tabs – This option will determine if test-takers will be allowed to open new browser tabs during the test.
- Allow copy text or images – This will determine if test-takers are allowed to copy text or images from another source, such as a Word document, and then paste the information into the test.
- Set exam window size – This will determine the size of test browser window.
- Fullscreen – The test-takers exam is launched in fullscreen mode to prevent new browser tabs, windows or third party applications. This is the equivalent of a locked down browser.
- Maximized – The test-taker’s window will remain maximized during the exam. It cannot be resized or minimized. However, other applications can still be launched with this view.
- Resizable – The test-taker is permitted to resize the browser window during the exam. This would allow them to position their test window, and another application, so they appear on the screen at the same time.
- Third party application use – This determines if the test-taker is prevented from using outside programs and applications during the exam.
- The Test-taker resources section determines what other resources students are allowed to use during the test. This can include defined use of; textbooks, calculators, notes, scratch paper, websites, software, and bathroom breaks.
- Allow websites – This section allows you to add pre-determined websites students are allows to visit during the test. Type the website into the box and then click the plus icon to add it to the approved list.
- The Additional exam notes section allows you to enter notes for the test. This is where notes on student accommodations can be added. While information about the test accommodations can be included in this box, please note to not be too specific about student disabilities and ID information to keep within HIPPA compliance.
- After the options have been customized, click Save & Continue.
- Entering Contact information: The next window is where contact information will be added in the event that the test-taker encounters a problem. In addition to the main instructor contact, additional contacts for test incidents can be added in the Incident report notifications section.
- Click Continue to advance to the review page. A review of all ProctorU settings will display. If everything looks correct, click Save & Return to LMS.
Tests can be verified by clicking the ProctorU browser extension icon. After accessing the site, tests that have been setup in the system will appear in the window.
