Video Tutorial of the Midterm Verification Process
After you receive the email letting you know it is time to enter Quarter or Midterm Grades, you can proceed to Blackboard. If you enter grades before this time, it may not accurately reflect the students progress in the course.
In your Blackboard course, under Course Management, go to Course Tools
Then click on Academic Records Integration
Click Quarter and Midterm Grades
Select any course section or group from the dropdown menu.
After selecting the course section or group, click back to the "Merged" sections option to ensure all students are listed.
Click Last Name at the top of the Last Name column to sort student names alphabetically by last name.
You have two options for entering grades
- Manual – Manually enter grades one at a time. The following letter grades may be entered; A,B,C,D, S, U, F
- If you prefer not to issue an A, B, C, D, or F at the Quarter or Midterm, you can also issue S or U. S represents work in the A/B/C range, and U represents work in the D/F range. Please communicate with your students what these letters mean if you issue them.

- Automatic – If you have been using the Blackboard Grade Center, you can populate the columns
When manually entering grades:
- Enter the grade for each currently registered student
- Do not enter grades for dropped students, leave those fields blank and enter a last date of attendance or check Never Attended
- Click Submit to submit the grades
If you are using the Blackboard grade center to manage grades, you can populate the columns using that information.
Using the second drop down, Populate quarter/midterm grade from Grade Center total, select either Quarter Grade or Midterm Grade
The grades will be populated in the selected column
- You have the ability to manually adjust the grade if needed
- You will have to remove the grades for dropped students and enter a last date of attendance or check Never Attended
Click Submit to submit the grades
When you are done submitting grades, a purple status bar will display verifying that the grade information has been submitted. If you do not see a status bar after submitting, navigate away from the Academic Records Integration tool. Then, return to the Academic Records Integration Quarter/Midterm Grades tab; if the information you submitted is still there, it has been saved.
Last Date of Attendance Error
If you received an error message (Invalid grade posting. Student is not active in the section) in Blackboard when entering a Last Date of Attendance for dropped students, please complete the following form with the dropped student information.
Last Date of Attendance Submission Form
Note: The instructor must complete an individual form entry for each affected student. The information provided will then be entered manually by the Grades Department.
