There may be times when you need to remove an attendee from a Collaborate Ultra session. For example, if a student becomes disruptive or if someone who does not belong in the course gains access to the guest link or the dial in number.
To remove an attendee from your Collaborate Ultra session:
- Open the Collaborate Panel.
- Select the Attendees tab.
- Click the circle with three dots to the right of the participant you want to remove.
- Click Remove from session.
If the attendee joined the session from the course using the tool link on the Course Menu, s/he will be removed and notified that s/he cannot rejoin the session. If the session is open ended like the course room, the attendee can rejoin only after the moderator has left and rejoined the session.
If the attendee joined using a guest link, s/he can rejoin again right away, so you will need to disable guest access to prevent this from happening.
To disable guest access: - Return to the browser tab where you started the session - do not close the Collaborate Ultra session browser tab.
- Uncheck the box to the left of Guest access.
- Click Save (you may have to scroll down to see the Save option).
The guest link is now disabled and anyone trying to use it will not be able to join.
If the attendee joined by phone using anonymous dial in, you will need to disable this feature to prevent him/her from rejoining by calling back.
To disable anonymous dial in:
- Return to the browser tab where you started the session - do not close the Collaborate Ultra session browser tab.
- Click the Session Settings gear.
- Scroll down to display Enable session telephony and uncheck the box to the left of Allow attendees to join the session using a telephone.
- Click Save.
Telephony is now disabled and anyone trying to dial in will not be able to join.
Please note, the dial in number is displayed in the session details within the course, so even if a student you removed did not join the session by phone the first time, s/he will be able to rejoin by calling the number unless you disable it.
