An image or visual representation of a concept can be very beneficial to students in your course. You can add images to many locations in your course, including in an Item, Announcement, or Test.
After being sure that you are complying with copyright laws, you can upload an image in your course: If the image is on your computer, you can drag and drop it into the content editor directly. Otherwise, follow the process to use the Content Editor to insert an image from your device, course, or cloud storage account.
- Navigate to the location in the course where you want to add the image. You can add an image using any Content Editor.
- Select the Add Content Plus icon.
- Click Browse Local Files to add an image that is saved on your device. If the image is already in your course's Content Collection, choose Insert Course Files. If your image is stored with a Cloud Storage Service (Dropbox, Google Drive, One Drive, or Box) chose that option.
- Navigate to the image file on your computer.
- Click Open to attach the image.
- Your image now appears in the editor. To adjust the size of the image, click the image to select it, then drag the handles that display in the corners.

- Next, add an alternative description for the image. This is referred to as "alternative text" or "alt text." When students hover their mouse pointer over an image, they will be able to see this text. This is important for students who are blind or have low vision (a screen reader will read this text to describe the image to them) and for students who have a slow computer or internet connection for which an image would load very slowly, if at all.
- Right-click the image then choose Image.
- Compose a brief alternative description of the image. Avoid beginning with "image of" as screen readers announce images to users. If the image is purely decorative, leave the description field blank. `
- Click Save.

- After adding any additional information, click Submit to save your content.
