Accessing Student Submissions
Instructors can access student submissions for grading in various ways in Ultra course view. To view student's submissions, instructors can click on:
- The assignment, itself, wherever it resides in the Course Content area. Once the Assignment opens, click the Submissions tab of the assignment and select the attempt to grade from the Grading Status column.
- The assignment name in the Gradable Items view of Gradebook
- A student's name in the Grades or Students views of Gradebook, then selecting the assignment to be graded.
Grading and Providing Feedback
Once an instructor has opened a student submission, they can annotate, grade, and provide feedback to the student for the given assignment. Here is a look at a student submission from a grading perspective:
- The assignment name is displayed at the top of the screen.
- The student's name, date and time submitted stamp, and submission receipt number.
- Points earned are entered in the upper-right corner of the screen.
- The left panel displays the attempts for the given assignment. This panel can be sorted to display All Grading Statuses or just the Needs Grading attempts. Within those 2 display views, submissions can be sorted alphabetically, by submission date, or by student ID.
- Clicking on an attempt will display that attempt in the middle of the screen. If the student submission is a file upload, instructors can use Bb Annotate to annotate the file (see: Inline Grading Assignments with Bb Annotate in Ultra Course View).
- The right panel allows instructors to provide any necessary feedback about the assignment Feedback can be provided in the form of text, links, file attachments, and video. New to ultra, instructors can record video feedback directly in the content editor (see Providing Feedback on Student Submissions in Ultra Course View).
Posting Grades
In Ultra course view, simply grading the assignment or test, does not publish that grade in the course. Instructors must manually post grades for each graded item. Grades may be posted individually by student, or collectively by assignment (see Posting Grades in Ultra Course View). If an instructor is ready to post the grades from the assignment submission screen, they may:
- Click the Post Grades button in the lower left corner of the screen.
- In the dialog box that appears, click Post All Grades
