Providing feedback on assignments and tests is crucial as it helps students understand their strengths and areas for improvement, guiding their learning process. Meaningful feedback also promotes a growth mindset, motivating students to engage more thoroughly with the material. In Ultra course view, instructors can provide this feedback in a variety of ways:
Providing Feedback on Assignments
- Navigate to the Gradebook and select either the Gradable Items or Grades view.
- Click on the name of the Assignment to provide feedback.
- You will be brought to the students' attempts for that item. Click on a student's name to view their attempt.
- The Feedback Panel will open on the right side of the screen
- To type your feedback, click the text box and begin typing. When you are finished, click Save
Adding Media to Feedback
- On the Feedback Panel, select the Plus Sign (+). This will allow you to upload content to your feedback, such as a video or file.
- The Recording option will allow you to record a webcam or audio-only feedback response.
Providing Feedback on Exams
- Navigate to the Gradebook and select either the Gradable Items or Grades view.
- Click on the name of the Test to provide feedback.
- You will be brought to the students' attempts for that item. Click on a student's name to view their attempt.
- The Feedback Panel will open on the right side of the screen
- To type your feedback, click the text box and begin typing. When you are finished, click Save.
Automatic Feedback
Automatic Feedback can be enabled for specific answers on an exam in Ultra (NOTE: This must be set up while creating/editing the exam).
- The specific question types that can utilize automatic feedback are: Calculated Formula, Calculated Numeric, Fill in the Blank, Matching, Multiple Choice, and True/False.
- To provide automatic feedback for one of these question types, click the Automatic Feedback button.
- Instructors can provide automatic feedback for all Correct and Incorrect answers.
- When you have finished setting this up, click Save.
